Surrender a Pet
Life Just Happens
PAAW frequently helps owners in need of finding new homes for their pets, as well as working with local animal shelters to assist shelter animals in finding new forever homes.
Two primary programs are available through PAAW, including our Surrender Program and our Adoption Assistance Program.
Surrender Program:
Our surrender program allows owners to surrender their existing pets to PAAW to find them a new home.
In this program, PAAW will find a suitable foster home through our foster network who will provide care for the pet until such time as the animal is adopted.
If we have a foster available, a donation of the amount below will be required to assist with any veterinary, microchipping or other expenses associated with preparing the pet for adoption.
- Individual adult animals: $50 per pet
- Litters of Kittens or Puppies: $100 per litter (All litters of kittens require FELV/FIV test prior to surrender.)
Adoption Assistance Program:
The adoption assistance program allows owners to retain custody of their pets until a new permanent home is found.
In this program, the pet remains with the current family until a new family is found.
PAAW will accept applications, screen them, and coordinate meetings between potential adopters and the original family when a qualified potential applicant is found with one of our qualified volunteer adoption counselors. The adoption itself will take place as occurs with all of our other adoptions, with an adoption contract being completed, home-visit if necessary (dogs), and adoption fee will be collected by the rescue to assist with our other rescue efforts.
There is no guarantee on the time required for a suitable new home to be found, it may only take days or may take months to find the right family, depending on the pet’s needs. Donations are non-refundable and are required as shown below:
- Individual adult animals: $50 per pet
- Litters of Kittens or Puppies: $100 per litter (All litters of kittens require FELV/FIV test prior to surrender.
- Donations can be made at this link if you would like to participate in this program: Donate – PayPal – Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren (PAAW) – Pet Rescue Organization – Michigan (paawarren.org), however please do not donate until one of our volunteers has contacted you to offer acceptance into this program. Once that occurs, donation receipts can be sent to PAAWApplications@gmail.com.
It is imperative that you contact PAAW immediately if you find alternative placement for the animal so we can remove the pet from our website.
